The Adonis Method

One of the most misunderstood and misapplied terms in the pickup community [besides “Negging”] is Peacocking. The problem with the term is that a lot of guys hear about it, then they go out and either copy little bits and pieces of other people’s peacocking -OR- they just add any gaudy piece to their ensemble and call it peacocking. Why is this a problem? What does doing any of this say about you. Ultimately, pickup is about conveying your unique identity to the woman. All the tips, tactics and techniques in pickup are ultimately geared at this.

Say you saw a guy in field having massive success with women and also… he is wearing 18th century powdered whig. And you think to yourself, if only I wore a powdered whig, then I’d get the ladies. The guy wearing the whig is almost guaranteed to be so far into his own reality that the powdered whig fits into that seamlessly. Perhaps he is a concert pianist at Carnegie Hall or a a professor and expert on Colonial American society….it’s hard to say, for sure, but I can guarantee that the whig conveys something very powerful about who HE is.

There’s another downside as well… I can remember a fellow PUA who was using one of my peacocking ideas: wearing boas. I asked him not to do it anymore. [Quick tip: It’s not desirable to have your wing(s) adorned in a similar style to yourself–you either look gay or like a pack of clowns. Also you will dampen the desired effect of peacocking, which is to convey your unique identity]. Anyway, he decided to go out one night without wearing my boa. He reported later that he felt like he couldn’t approach women because he wasn’t wearing the boa!?? Peacocking that is used as a crutch is weak and reveals an insecure [and ultimately unattractive] personality. If you feel like you can’t perform in the field because your nails aren’t black, you are completely missing the point! You are also thinking about pickup as a whole completely wrong: you are looking at it exactly the same nerdy way as I talked about in my post: VH1’s The Pickup Artist.

But what if we were to approach this differently and more effectively. What about your personality would you like to convey to a woman? What value do you possess that you would like to subcom to a woman? What can you do that allows you to congruently stand out from the regular chodes in the bar? What can you wear to convey your sexuality? These are the things you should be thinking about…not what you’ve seen Mystery wearing lately. At the recent PUA Summit attended by Epik and I, Asian Playboy made a joke saying you could always tell the guys who didn’t get it in the community by seeing these nerds slinking around with black nails and New Rock boots [damn that APB, negging me like that… Grin !!]. Thing was I was able to hear this and not be affected by it because I knew exactly what he was talking about….the guys that do it but have no real reason to besides the fact that they saw Mystery do it.

I think I have made my point: Death to Peacocking! I would like all of you guys to start thinking of this area of seduction as IDENTITY CONVEYANCE instead. Doing so will result in a far more congruent and attractive self.
